Knifemaking Classes
Knifemaking classes at the Hardway Workshop
Intro to Knifemaking
In our intro class, students will be working with a heat treated blank to grind bevels, build their own handle and learn the basics of knife making.
Forged Knife Class (Fridays Only)
In this Friday class, students will forge, heat treat and grind a knife blade. The blade can be completed by wrapping in paracord for a handle or a handle can be added at home. This is a great way to get started forging and especially good for people who have started building knife kits and want to take it to the next level.
Forged Knife Class (Two Day)
This will be a two day class in which students will forge a knife from scratch, heat treat, grind and install handle scales. A kydex sheath will be made for each knife. All materials and tools are provided as well as lunch both days. We will be forging a 6"x1.5"x3/16" piece of 80CrV2 High Carbon steel. The knives tend to come out to 7-9" overall length. We provide a selection of wood and manmade handle materials.
Intro Chef Knife Class
Your host Billy Nelson with Eleven Knives will be guiding you his process of building an 8" chef knife. Students start with a partially shaped blank that they may customize to their style. Heat treating, grinding and handle are all accomplished in this one day class
