Knifemaking Classes
Knifemaking classes at the Hardway Workshop
Join us for these very popular classes at the Join or Die Knives community shop: the Hardway Workshop. Over the last several years we have made the shop here in Richmond VA a hub for serious bladesmiths and knife enthusiasts alike. We are proud to offer both a one day stock removal experience and a two day forged knife experience. In all our classes, attendees leave with a fully functional blade and sheath that they can be proud of.
Intro to Knifemaking
In our intro class, students will be working with a heat treated blank to grind bevels, build their own handle and learn the basics of knife making. Attendees leave with their own completed knife.
Forged Knife Class (Two Day)
This will be a two day class in which students will forge a knife from scratch, heat treat, grind and install handle scales. A kydex sheath will be made for each knife. All materials and tools are provided as well as lunch both days. We will be forging a 6"x1.5"x3/16" piece of 80CrV2 High Carbon steel. The knives tend to come out to 7-9" overall length. We provide a selection of wood and manmade handle materials.
Ben Abbott Chopper Class (Two Day)
This will be a two day class in which students will forge a chopper just like round one and two of Forged in Fire with one of the Judges! All materials and tools are provided as well as lunch both days.
